One of The Things That Has Changed

For the past two/three years, I have been commemorating Ashoora, the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, in a way differs from the way I used to.I grew up in a Shia community that has its special rituals for these days, I cannot say it's wrong nor right because it has always been cultural to me than what it is really supposed to be.

I have attended sermons with my mother since my childhood. I listened and knew how this historical epic happened, but never realized why and how great it is until I experienced it in couple different places with different group of people. 
Witnessing the impact of it, the real one I am talking about, realizing it does not have to be as same as my community does it, that it only requires your attention, emotions, and your empathy, in addition to your faithful/spiritual side. 
This epic wasn't only for us, it doesn't only represent us, it is way more than that.
I am grateful for the chances of which I have got to experience all of this. To see what I have grown up doing/living from different angles.

أنت لست وحدك.. وأنا لست وحدي

كنت أشعر بالحزن حين تكورت على نفسي باحثة عن رحم في ضجة الحياة يسمح لي بالبقاء كجنين يطفو في العتمة ويحيطه الصمت والهدوء.  لم أكن أعلم سبب هذه الغمامة التي أغرقتني في الفراغ. كان اعتقادي بأن السيطرة على أفكاري المتسارعة، والحد من الضوضاء العارمة والتحول لشخص إيجابي يرى الحياة بلون وردي، سيحد من تسارع الفوهة العميقة التي تتوسطني.  اتضح أنني مخطئة، وكلما زدت إصرارًآ على الهروب من هذه الفجوة المجهولة، علقت بها أكثر، وتلاشيت أكثر. كانت أشبه بالرمال المتحركة.  ظللت عالقة؛ غير قادرة على المضي قدمًا ولا التراجع للوراء. حتى اعتدت كل شيء.  الفجوة، الفراغ، الهدوء الطويل والتلاشي.. كل شيء.  اعتدت كل هذا حتى ابتلعني الشعور باللاشيء، انعدام القيمة، الفشل، والسخط على الحياة، إلى أن توصلت إلى عقد صلح مع فكرة الموت التي أثارت فضولي بدل خوفي، حينها، وحينها فقط، أدركت حاجتي للمساعدة. لا الأصدقاء الأقوياء، ولا العائلة الحنونة على قدر كافٍ لمساعدتي في تخطي هذا الغرق وطوفان اللاشعور.  تم تشخيصي بالاكتئاب، والذي عقدت هدنة معه بالرغم من عدم امتناني للفوضى التي خلق...

Faded Shade

It never goes away, it’s always there. It only fades, it’s a shade.  We made a truce, since we are part of each other.  It gives me darkness, I give it calmness.  It comes less, but I must welcome it with no complaints. Sometimes it allows me to stop and catch my breath, but usually we’re in a race, who beats the other.  I have always imagined myself as a tree, that’s why I guess I have an attached shade that never leaves.  Since I am a tree, my branches could be broken, my leaves are falling, and this always comes to an end, I bloom in spring. I become greener than ever, then, here it ends again.  A cloud passes by, and here, it comes a storm, I might be the thunder, I might be the lightning .  Its chaos is my wind, and my fears are its rain.
